Bio

I could write a song about anything ... but I write up-beat music, something that people can dance to.
— Charlie Fittler

Music got to Charlie really young. His older brother and sister were students at NECOM, the conservatorium of music in Armidale where Charlie lives, and close family friends are in the industry and organise gigs around town that Charlie went to at an early age. Guitar lessons started when he was 8 years old, with Stephen Tafra. 'So now what do you want to learn?' Stephen finally asked after years of guitar-playing foundation. 'I want to do Country licks,' replied Charlie, and he hasn't looked back.

Stephen always pushed me and as I got older he helped me develop my own style towards my own taste in music — after years of the basic stuff.
— Charlie Fittler, talking about his valued guitar teacher and friend, Stephen Tafra.

Comfortable on the stage with his voice and guitar, Charlie has the dream of a country music future. He's on track. At the 2018 CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, he had a session with Mikey Cole and spent time with Travis Collins, learning what it takes to write great Country songs.

A fall-back career? It's something that the folk at the Academy of Country Music talked about, the reality of doing the hard yards when you're starting out as a musician and needing to make ends meet. It could be something like sound engineering, thinks Charlie. Nothing too far from what he loves.

Gigs

At gigs Charlie plays upbeat songs but knows the value of having a set list with a few slower numbers, if that's how he reads the crowd.
